Joining us as a Graduate in the NPTC—Nestle Product Development, is a really exciting prospect. The NPTC Confectionery in York is where we develop brilliant new products to delight our consumers, develop new technologies and optimise the recipes and processes that make our products better tasting, healthier, and easier to manufacture. The work we do here goes into making items of confectionery that are iconic in the UK and all over the world. NPTC Confectionery York is Nestlé’s leading centre for confectionery Research & Development, working in partnership with three development centres in Chile, China and Ivory Coast and working on products distributed to 187 countries. In York there’s a team of 170 amazing people from over 30 nationalities and a variety of academia. Focused on developing and delivering excellence in confectionery innovation worldwide, for well-known brands such as KitKat, Aero, Milkybar, the team support 50 factories globally. Our aim is to lead the way in how confectionery and healthier snacks are developed, manufactured and packaged. What the NPTC Product Development Graduate Scheme entails 

Our scheme will show you the full extent of the product development process from ideation to the finished article. You’ll be learning a huge amount, which is why the scheme is designed to make the process as accessible as possible, with structured business-critical work experience under the close guidance of our experts. It’s an exciting way to learn and an introduction to your career unlike any other.  

On this two-year scheme, you’ll spend six months with our core Science team, taking on front-end innovation. Then there are nine months at KitKat and a further nine months in Chocolate Innovation teams. Imagine seeing a new chocolate bar on the shelf and knowing that you created it—that’s the level of involvement you’ll be preparing for.  

You’ll also learn the management and leadership skills it takes to deliver product development projects at Nestlé. How to play your part within a huge organisation like ours and how you’ll continuously improve the commercial outcomes of the work you do with your analysis, feedback, and stakeholder collaboration. 

On the NPTC Product Development Graduate Scheme, you won’t just learn what makes great-tasting products—with the specialist understanding you’ll gain and the leadership behaviours you’ll develop, you’ll be setting yourself up for a career with endless potential. Who is eligible for the NPTC Product Development Graduate Scheme? 

We’re looking for innovators and problem solvers. People who are brilliant communicators, pro-active and who can leave us awestruck with the solutions they provide.  

You might have developed your individual take on things when you studied for your degree in Food Science or Chemistry. What’s really important is that you’re excited to throw yourself into an immersive learning experience that will see you transform your raw potential into the finished article.  


What will I get out of a Nestlé NPTC Product Development Graduate Scheme? 

You’ll be taking a front seat on innovation right from the off as part of our core Science team. You’ll be supported and mentored every step of the way by our experts and you’ll be working on real NPTC projects that will allow you to apply your learning as soon as it’s acquired. As you do, you’ll be getting a feel for the reality of the work you’ll be doing with iconic brands that the whole world knows—and you’ll have played a crucial role in further developing them.
