Job Description

Digital Manufacturing Graduate Scheme 2021-2022
Embark on a Graduate Scheme that’s specifically engineered to give you an amazing career in problem solving, technological innovation and solution design, with the world’s biggest food and drink manufacturer, Nestlé. Applications are now open to join other Graduates from all backgrounds and walks of life on a Digital Manufacturing Scheme that will set the pace in our industry.  We’re the kind of business that encourages people to bring their whole selves to work—inclusivity is, after all, the reason we enjoy such breadth of innovation from such a diverse range of amazing talent.  Join us here in York and become the best version of yourself as you work towards your Digital Manufacturing career, gaining valuable knowledge and experience and enjoying mentoring from leading industry professionals.

What the Digital Manufacturing Scheme entails
NPTC York is Nestlé’s leading centre for confectionery research & development, working in partnership with 3 development centres in Chile, China and Ivory Coast. In York we are a team of 170 amazing scientists and engineers from over 30 nationalities. You will join a global team of 25 engineers from all disciplines, providing engineering expertise and equipment solutions (process, packaging and automation) with a strong focus on digital technologies.  This is a chance to make an impact on brands loved all over the world. Imagine being responsible for a new machine that can produce two million KitKats per day. Here you’ll achieve that (and you probably won’t stop at two million). If you’ve got the ideas, this is the place you’ll come to make them real and—through processes of analysis and improvement—better than you imagined. We don’t really do ‘limits’ here. Through the Digital Manufacturing Scheme, you’ll build up a diverse portfolio of expertise in areas such as advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, vision systems, robotics, simulation, and predictive technologies, supporting activities to enable process mastership in our factories. It’s about discovering where your interests lie and which ones are most likely to draw out your talent, and then going all out to impress. If you do, you could find yourself in a role here when you complete the programme. There are always great roles for ambitious engineers on our teams.

Who is eligible for the Digital Manufacturing Graduate Scheme?
We’re looking for people with an unbridled drive for digital transformation in manufacturing—people who want to achieve as much as they possibly can early in their career. You’ll need a relevant engineering degree or equivalent STEM degree, plus a passion for new technologies, process engineering and data analytics, but what’s most important is your desire to really make the most of every opportunity to learn and show us what you’re capable of. If you can do that, you’ll fit right in—and be well on your way to making yourself an indispensable member of the team.  You’ll need to be able to push yourself under pressure, developing your strengths and cultivating your interests so that you can find the area of engineering that’s best suited to you. We want to see a serious level of curiosity and engagement with the business. Not to mention boundless innovation, quick thinking and great organisational skills.

What will I get out of a Nestlé Graduate Scheme?
This is one of the best possible introductions to life working alongside a professional engineering team supporting digital innovations. It will show you, first-hand, why Nestlé is leading the way. Imagine working on a project combining the latest robotic technologies and vision systems to develop a new product opportunity. For a creative Digital Manufacturing Graduate, it’s both an eye-opener and a dream come true.  The value of the insight into the industry you’ll come away with cannot be overstated. You’ll play a part in ground-breaking work, collaborating with seriously respected engineering professionals and have the satisfaction of knowing that the constant improvements delivered through digital transformation are instrumental in delivering on our ‘Force for Good’ commitments.  That’s our way of Creating Shared Value (CSV), which means making sure that we’re factoring social responsibilities into our commercial goals, and results in things like recycled paper packaging and healthier products.  It’s things like that that make our Graduate Scheme so satisfying. We’ll always encourage you to bring positive change to the industry and the wider world with the work you do—it’s just how we do things here. Now that’s really inspiring.
