Engineering Apprentice Halifax 2022/2023

Job Description

Join Nestlé as an engineering apprentice and turn your creativity, problem solving and analytical skills into a respected career. This is your chance to learn from highly credible engineering professionals at the biggest food and beverage company in the world—giving you an unmatched start to your career.

Engineering here is about delivering solutions to the diverse problems we encounter as a large global company. That takes different ideas from different kinds of people, all working together as a single team. That’s why inclusivity is important to us—and why we help everyone to perform at their best.

Running at locations all over the country, our engineering apprenticeship will give you the skills you need to launch an exciting career full of development opportunities.

What the Engineering Apprenticeship entails

On our Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship, you’ll be a real team member working on live projects. You’ll learn new engineering techniques by doing them yourself under the guidance of our top professionals. Yes, you’ll be working in a supported environment—but you’ll still be expected to deliver—and you’ll be able to see the positive impact your work is having.

As you progress through the wide-ranging learning programme, you’ll zero in on the kind of engineering role you’re best suited to. You’ll also get to see our continuous improvement culture in action and how root cause analysis and fault finding drive it. Then there’s the mentorship you’ll receive in core business skills like problem-solving, innovation and collaboration.

Taking time out from the factory floor, you’ll get a taste of student life when you attend residential learning modules on block release in Liverpool. Here you’ll meet other apprentices from around the country—it’s a great chance to strike up professional relationships and build a network that could open doors in the future.

Additional Information

Who is eligible for the Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme?

We’re looking for people with a positive attitude and the drive to learn and succeed. Yes, you’ll need Maths and English Language GCSEs (or equivalent), with actual or predicted grades at 9–4 (or A*- C if received in 2017 or earlier), but equally important is that you’re ready to commit 100% to developing a fulfilling engineering career.

Nestlé Apprenticeships aren’t just for school leavers. You might also have been working for a few years in a role that isn’t tapping into your full potential. By allowing you to earn while you learn, our apprenticeship is a great way into a fulfilling career with scope for development to match your ambition.

What will I get out of a Nestlé Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme?

By the end of the apprenticeship, you'll have a Level 3 Food & Drink Maintenance Engineer qualification and be set up in an engineering career—and perhaps looking at more senior roles. All while your friends are still studying and racking up student debt.  You’ll also have experience with big name brands like KitKat, Felix, Buxton and Nescafé. It’ll build your confidence and give you serious standing as an engineer within our operations team.

Our ‘Force for Good’ initiative is another reason to feel great about the path you’ve chosen with us. Built around the ideas of Creating Shared Value (CSV), it means aligning our commercial goals with social responsibilities like helping the environment and healthier eating. By improving our efficiency, you’ll contribute directly to that and have a positive impact on the wider world.
